Global Health Corps is a global and diverse community of leaders working to achieve health equity for all.
When Barbara Bush was in college, she traveled to Uganda and was struck by the vast number of people living with HIV/AIDS who did not have access to live-saving drugs. The disparity shocked and angered her—so decided to do something about it.
Barbara identified a crucial gap in global health: leadership. With her sister and friends, she started Global Health Corps (GHC) in 2009. GHC offers a competitive fellowship to support emerging global health leaders.
GHC selects young professionals for paid, 13-month fellowships with organizations promoting health equity in East Africa, Southern Africa, and the United States. The organization has supported more than 1,000 emerging health leaders, and 95 percent remain working in the global health or social justice fields. Barbara is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur, a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper, and the recipient of the 2018 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. She is a 2009 Echoing Green Fellow.
