Racial Equity
Philanthropic Fund
We believe transforming the world for the better requires an intentional, explicit, and sustained focus on advancing racial equity. For too long, racial inequity has permeated spaces that are supposed to achieve social progress and change systems—social innovation is no exception. At Echoing Green, we are building upon our existing commitment to investing in next-generation leadership to ensure that the social innovation field is an essential actor in the longstanding racial justice movement.
Our Objectives for Strategic Investment
Since our founding, Echoing Green has operated at the intersection of social justice and social innovation, supporting leaders worldwide to create new and shared value in our communities. We are building on this foundation through the work of our three-year Philanthropic Fund (2021-2024) to ensure that today’s heightened awareness of racial inequity translates into sustained action in the social innovation field.
By the end of 2024, Echoing Green will:
Launch and Scale 500 Social Enterprises
In addition to seeking out early-stage innovators whose work advances racial equity, Echoing Green will make follow-on investments into alumni social enterprises in our network. Grants will support organizations seeking to refine and scale their work toward racial justice in the U.S. and globally.
Improve Social Innovation On-ramps for 5,000 Emerging Leaders
Echoing Green will cultivate a global community of proximate leaders who approach social change through racial justice frameworks. By partnering to develop and deliver programming and workshops, Echoing Green will reach 5000 people—including organizers, entrepreneurs, artists, students, activists, and more—at different leadership stages as they build upon skills, find potential collaborators, and elevate racial justice in their work.
Engage 10,000 Corporate Employees
Echoing Green will provide opportunities to engage in the racial equity movement for corporate partners and employees so they can drive impact at their organizations and within their communities. Programming includes exposure to racial justice solutions in-practice, applying their skills to provide direct support and advice to social enterprises, and providing tools to turn their passion and skills into actions that will support frontline leaders over the long haul.

“At Echoing Green, we know that sustained traction in social change requires an intentional, explicit, and long-term focus on addressing racial disparities. Our new Fund allows us to invest in leaders, thought leadership, convening events and publications, allowing us to ask questions, uncover systemic issues, and pilot change within the social innovation space.”
